Today a few words from Maria:

The concept of time is slowly changing. Instead of hours and dates, I now think in watch shifts. With the recent change in watches, now being on the 4 to 8 watch, I get to experience the sunrise and moonset every morning, which is very beautiful and helps with marking the days.
Yesterday was a Saturday, which means cleaning day. Everybody took to their own task and at some point whales were spotted on starboard side. Showing us their fins and blowing up water. At 16:00 we ate the afternoon snack on the clean aft deck, satisfied with our work. During this time a few dolphins came swimming by. We all lined up along port side to watch them in complete silence, still in awe of their beauty and playfulness. Most of us were busy finishing their poems for each other, as today (Sunday) we will read them out loud. It is lovely to see that this project is working out and people happily getting involved with the ‘entertainment’ activities. As the appointed ‘entertainment manager’, I have a few workshops and weeklong ideas planned, that will hopefully keep us entertained until Horta at least. Even though we easily can keep looking at the vast ocean and blue/cloudy/starry skies, it is fun to have an activity to break the day.

This morning (Sunday 13th) we are on the engine and autopilot again. Even though that means there is less to do during your watch, this magnificent environment and wonderful company makes the time go by fast. Today is again a sunny day, with a few clouds and very little winds. It is also poem day! We will see who has a way with words and how well we know each other after two weeks. It will be a nice afternoon.

(PS Lieve groeten aan mijn ouders. Veel plezier in Spanje! XM)
