Happy Easter!
Today an update from Katrin:
It is very special to celebrate Easter on the wide ocean. Those of us on watch even saw sun rise but for a short moment, only, on this largely overcast morning. What a change from the sunny weather during our two days on Faial island of the Azores. At the same time, experiencing the different types of weather is part and parcel of this wonderful voyage (except storms; we can do without those). And the grey-on-grey as its own unique appeal, as well.
Last night, at 6:00 pm we let go of the ropes in Horta harbour, to start the second part of the voyage, with 1,620 miles (3,000km) to Amsterdam. The watch teams are newly assembled, so we get to spend time with other people among us nine passengers. However, the routine stays the same: 4 hours of watch every twelve hours. I am looking forward to more of the great conversations – and the happy chatter – that are of the watches.
Now, I will go to enjoy the Easter breakfast buffet that Frederik has prepared for us this morning. Then I will open the envelope that my children gave me on the way, for Easter – surprisingly, I was able not to cheat and open it early!
